Welcome to our stunning premier Maison, a lovingly restored 16th-century building that has been transformed over the past three years. This historic gem, once uninhabited for 120 years, is now a beautiful canvas reflecting our passion for creating a unique and inviting space.
When we stumbled upon this hidden treasure buried under undergrowth, mud, and farm machinery, we knew we had found our dream house. With a desire for a change of life and to start a family, we took a leap of faith and embarked on a renovation journey. Despite lacking prior experience in construction, we rolled up our sleeves and, with the help of a British builder and my father, dedicated ourselves to transforming this house into a modern sanctuary while preserving its original charm.
Our vibrant personalities shine through every corner of the house, creating a colorful and welcoming atmosphere. We have recently renovated a second dwelling, the grange, where we will be spending the summer. Meanwhile, we offer the top half of the main house for rent, which features two double bedrooms with en-suites, a spacious kitchen, a dining and living room, and a cozy fireplace for those chilly winter nights. You will also enjoy your own courtyard area with a large table, chairs, and an umbrella, as well as a private seating area and a children's picnic area, all overlooking our picturesque valley and adjacent cliffs. The sunsets here are truly something special, and the night sky, free from light pollution, offers breathtaking views of the stars.
During your stay, you are welcome to explore our gardens and make use of our stunning 60-square-meter yoga deck. We are passionate about gardening, upgrading the landscaping, and practicing yoga and meditation. As trained massage therapists, we are always nearby if you need relaxation or rejuvenation.
Located in Turenne, one of the most beautiful villages in France, our property offers a unique vantage point atop a cliff in the Corrèze region. Surounding towns, such as Curemonte, Meyssac, and the red-stoned Collonges-la-Rouge, are equally charming. The nearest airport, Brive, operates for eight months of the year, and the year-round train station, Brive-la-Gaillarde, provides connections from Paris, Toulouse, and beyond.
Our area is a haven for adventure seekers and those seeking tranquility, with miles of rivers, varied terrains, and bike and hiking trails. Immerse yourself in the rich cultural history and indulge in the finest fresh produce this region has to offer. As veterans in the retreat business, we offer a range of exciting well-being options during your stay, including yoga classes, deep tissue massages, and delicious vegetarian, vegan, and local cuisine prepared by our on-site chef. While having a car is essential for exploring the area, we are happy to offer pick-up and drop-off services, as well as guided tours of the region. Additional services include airport transfers, train station transfers, relaxing massages, and a delightful three-course dinner.
Guests have access to our two acres of gardens, with the top tier offering a tranquil space to unwind. We are still in the process of landscaping the lower area, but you are welcome to bring a picnic rug and enjoy the lawns. Our house sits on the edge of bedrock, providing sweeping views of the lush green valley. Overlooking Turenne Castle and the surrounding farmland, you will be embraced by friendly neighbors and generations of local families. The village itself is steeped in history and tradition, making it a perfect base for cycling, walking, and hiking, with nearby cave systems waiting to be explored. If you're in the mood for a city tour, Brive is just 14 minutes away, or you can easily reach the most beautiful local villages within minutes, including Turenne, Collonges-la-Rouge, Curemonte, Meyssac, Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, and the glorious Rocamadour.
